Jack and Jack Calibraska EP

Unless you’ve been living under a rock or just haven’t had access to any form of internet, you’ll know that Jack and Jack have just released their highly anticipated EP ‘Calibraska’, and if you didn’t know, don’t worry, here’s everything you need to know about it.

Jack and Jack are a Hip Hop/Rap duo from Nebraska, USA. Like many upcoming artists, they started off on Vine and have since blown up the music scene. At just 18 and 19 years old, it’s hard to believe that they’re so talented- and Calibraska showcases just how talented they are.

The EP consists of 4 original songs;

  • California
  • Shallow Love
  • How We Livin
  • Wrong One

and honestly, I cannot fault a single one of them. Each song is completely different and have a different sound, which means you’ll never get bored of listening to this EP (believe me, I’ve listened to these exact 4 songs on repeat since they came out). Each song has a catchy beat that’ll be stuck in your head for literal days, and they say the only way to get a song out of your head is to listen to it, right?

California is the first song on Calibraska, and is the perfect introduction if you haven’t heard of them or their music before. It tells their story and rise to fame, and is one of those songs that you want to sing to with your friends. It’s fun, and if you’re looking for a new summer song, this could be it (although every song on this EP are my summer songs to be honest with you). Next up is Shallow Love, which has a more chilled out vibe, with a sort of reggae sound to it. Personally, this is one of my favourites from the EP, as I haven’t heard anything like it. This song is actually my alarm, as it puts me in a good mood right from the moment I hear it. Seriously, if you’re ever in a bad mood, just listen to this song and it’ll instantly make you happy (and if not, look at some pictures of ducklings or something, it usually does the trick for me).

The third song is How We Livin, which, again, is a song to listen to when you want to chill out. It’s about their lives since moving away and how they’re having the time of their lives being independent. If there’s any song on this planet that’ll make you want to move to America and start a career being a famous rap duo, this is it.

The last but by no means least song is Wrong One, which seems to be a solid favourite by both myself and other fans. I would say this song is the best in terms of lyrics, and even though it’s sad, it’s hard to not be happy whilst listening to a song with a beat as good as this. It’s an easy to listen to type of song, and if you’re going to give any of these songs a try, I would say listen to this one.

To sum up, this EP definitely shows how Jack and Jack have developed as artists compared to their previous work. There is something for everyone in this, which is pretty good considering there’s only 4 songs. I’m not usually a fan of rap, but there’s just something infectious about their music that puts me in a good mood whenever I hear it. I would recommend everyone listens to this EP, whether you like to rap or not, I guarantee you will find yourself jamming.
