Twins are everywhere these days! It was just last week that Zoe Saldana announced she is expecting twins (and only six months ago I gave birth to my own set of twins), and now it’s Princess Charlene of Monaco making the announcement that she, too, is pregnant with twins. The princess confirmed her pregnancy earlier in the year, but she only just announced that she’s expecting not one, but two babies!
When Princess Charlene’s pregnancy was announced back in May, the palaces issued this statement, “T.S.H. the Prince and the Princess of Monaco are delighted to announce the pregnancy of H.S.H Princess Charlene. The birth is expected at the end of the year.” Due sometime before the New Year arrives, the sex of the babies is unknown. It could be two girls, two boys or one of each, but no official announcement has been made regarding the news that the princess is expecting two babies.
Princess Charlene is a former Olympic swimmer born in South Africa. The 36-year-old athlete married the Prince of Monaco, son of Princess Grace Kelly, in 2011. He is 56. The twins will join two older siblings that their father has from two previous relationships in which he was engaged. He has a 22-year-old daughter by the name of Jazmin Grace Grimaldi. He also has an 11-year-old son by the name of Alexandre Coste.
The princess was recently in New York City with her husband, where she attended an event with Chelsea Clinton – who gave birth only a few days later to her own daughter – and discussed her pregnancy with several different media outlets as well as the former first daughter. While in the city, she answered questions regarding how she is feeling.
“I feel absolutely great,” said the princess when she was asked how this pregnancy is treating her.
